HTML Apps -> Using Advanced APIs

Some Conduit APIs may include advanced features such as: detection of on-page events, tracking of user activities on the page, injecting HTML layers into pages, passing information between pages/services, and more. These features enable you to create better and more powerful apps that interact with their users in real time and provide a personalized and interactive experience across sites and platforms.

As part of this advanced functionality, some APIs can also enable you to track the online activities of their users or transfer personal user information. To protect the privacy and safety rights of users, Conduit has limited the use of these APIs and requires developers who would like to use them to abide by the following guidelines:
  • Usage of the APIs is on a per-app basis. Publishers of Community Toolbars may use the APIs as part of apps that are embedded within their toolbar.
  • Prior to using the APIs, you must approve Conduit’s privacy and content policies and provide a description of the app and its desired behavior.
  • Prior to using the APIs, you must change their status from ‘disabled’ (by default) to ‘enabled’ by selecting a check box in your Conduit Control Panel.
  • Usage of the APIs will affect the privacy certification that the toolbar may get.
  • Usage of the APIs may subject the app to additional examinations by Conduit’s Compliance department.
  • Applications that make use of the APIs should provide users with proper notices and follow the practices described in the Advanced Apps Content Policy.

Please note that using these APIs without enabling them from the Control Panel will result in an error (with a specific error code).
The APIs that will require your activation based on the guidelines above are:
