CHANGING SEARCH SETTINGS

To easily change your search and browser settings, simply follow the steps below.

Change your home page

  1. Click the Firefox button (or Tools menu) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select the General tab.
  4. Change the home page address.

Disable the "New Tab" search page

  1. Open a new tab in your browser.
  2. Click Restore on the bottom of the page.

or

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Show a search box on new browser tabs.
  4. Select OK.

Disable the "Page Not Found" search page

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Show an alternative search page when web pages are not found.
  4. Select OK.

Change the default search engine

  1. Click the down arrow on your browser’s Search bar.
  2. Select Manage Search Engines...
  3. Select the toolbar’s customized web search.
  4. Click Remove.
  5. Click OK.

Remove the customized search from the address bar

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Enable search from address bar.
  4. Select OK.

Can’t find the toolbar’s Settings button?

In order to access the Settings button on the toolbar, make sure that the toolbar is enabled.

  1. Click the Firefox button (or Tools menu) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Add-ons.
  3. Select the Extensions tab.
  4. Find the toolbar and click Enable.
  5. Restart the browser.
  6. The Settings button should now appear on the toolbar.

Change your home page

  1. Click the Chrome menu (or wrench icon) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the "Appearance" section, select the Show Home button checkbox.
  4. Click Change.
  5. Select Open this page and change the web address.
  6. Click OK.

Change your startup pages

  1. Click the Chrome menu (or wrench icon) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the "On startup" section, select Open a specific page or set of pages.
  4. Click Set pages.
  5. Add, edit, or delete startup pages.
  6. Click OK.

Disable the "New Tab" search page

  1. Open a new tab in your browser.
  2. Click Restore on the bottom of the page.

or

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Show a search box on new browser tabs.
  4. Select OK.

Disable the "Page Not Found" search page

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Show an alternative search page when web pages are not found.
  4. Select OK.

Change the address bar (omnibox) search engine

  1. Click the Chrome menu (or wrench icon) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the "Search" section, select your preferred search engine in the drop-down menu.
  4. For more options, click Manage search engines.

or

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Enable search from address bar. (This will restore your browser’s default search engine.)
  4. Select OK.

Can’t find the toolbar’s Settings button?

In order to access the Settings button on the toolbar, make sure that it is enabled.

  1. Click the Chrome menu (or wrench icon) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select the Extensions tab.
  4. Find the toolbar and select the Enable checkbox.

Change your home page

  1. Click the gear icon (or Tools menu) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Internet options.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Change the home page address.
  5. Click Apply.

Disable the "New Tab" search page

  1. Open a new tab in your browser.
  2. Click Restore on the bottom of the page.

or

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Show a search box on new browser tabs.
  4. Select OK.

Disable the "Page Not Found" search page

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Advanced Settings tab.
  3. Clear this checkbox: Show an alternative search page when web pages are not found.
  4. Select OK.

Change the search box search engine (IE 8 only)

  1. Click the arrow on the browser’s search box.
  2. Choose Manage Search Providers.
  3. Select a search engine.
  4. Click Set as default.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Restart the browser.

or

  1. Click the Settings button on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Additional Settings tab.
  3. Select this checkbox: Keep my current default search provider.

Change the address bar search engine (IE 9 and 10)

  1. Click the gear icon (or Tools menu) at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Manage add-ons.
  3. Select the Search Providers tab.
  4. Select your preferred search engine.
  5. Click Set as default.

Can’t find the toolbar’s Settings button?

In order to access the Settings button on the toolbar, make sure that it is enabled.

  2. Select Manage add-ons.
  3. Select the Toolbars and Extensions tab.
  4. Select the toolbar.
  5. Click Enable.

Change your default search engine

  1. Click the gear icon at the top of the browser window.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Select the Extensions tab.
  4. Clear this checkbox: Enable Conduit web search from address bar and/or default search.
